EVEN after making the Under 19s NSW/ACT squad last season as a lower age player Bathurst's Ben Mitchell had his doubts about making it two years in a row inside the talented group.

But those concerns were allayed as Mitchell earned another call up to the squad for the upcoming 2019-20 season.
The former St Pat's Old Boys all-rounder and Sydney University player was one of three Western players to make the cut, alongside Brock Larance and Tom Coady.
"This was the main goal for this year. I'm really happy to make it because originally I thought they were only going to pick 10 players but to get the news back that I was going to be in the squad was great," Mitchell said.
"It's great to give me something to train for because previously I didn't really have anything to work towards."
Due to the current coronavirus situation Cricket NSW haven't locked in precise dates for squad activities but Mitchell is hopeful it will only be just around the corner.
He got a lot out of his first year with the camp and knows what to expect.
"It might start around mid-August, which is when pre-season with Sydney Uni starts, so it will be good to have a lot of training going on," he said.
"These camps are really good because they go into more than others, which are just about hitting balls for the most part. At these they go into the psychological aspects of the day and eating programs.
"That's why I'm stoked to be in the program again so I can learn more about what I need to be doing."
