WHILE plans for this year's Spring Spectacular have been shelved, there is plenty of interest in the Bathurst Garden Club's Plant and Garden Expo, being held on October 24, in Berry Park.

Dianne Thurling, publicity officer for the club, said they are hoping the community really get behind the event.
She said after all the community has gone through; drought, fires and now COVID-19, it was good to have something the community can look forward to.

She said it's the first time the club has hosted an expo like this, and while this year's Spring Spectacular can't go ahead, at this stage the expo still can.
"We're hoping to have up to 50 stall holders, people are very enthusiastic."
Ms Thurling said the format of the expo means if come October, and COVID restrictions at the time don't allow the event to be held, it is something that can be cancelled at the last minute without affecting too many people, or costing them large amounts of money.
She said at last year's Spring Spectacular, markets were set up in some of the gardens selling rustic ornaments and craft, and that's how the idea for the expo was born. If popular this year, it may become a permanent fixture.
