POLICE allege a man caught speeding on the Great Western Highway between Bathurst and Lithgow on the weekend blew 0.172 when given a breath analysis.
Police say a 26-year-old man from Liverpool was detected by Lithgow Highway Patrol speeding on the highway near Mount Lambie.
The man was stopped and breath-tested, returning a positive result.
He was taken to Lithgow Police Station, where police say a breath analysis returned an alleged reading of 0.172.
He was given a future court attendance notice to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Monday, August 31.
His licence was also suspended.
Western Region Traffic Tactician, Inspector Ben Macfarlane, said drivers who choose to drink and drink put everyone on the road at risk.
"We are out in force and will continue to target drink-driving offences throughout Western Region," he said.
"If you drink and drive, expect to be caught and have your licence suspended immediately."
