Back from a three-year hiatus, the show has returned to help five lonely country boys find love.

Merino grazier Neil Seaman, 43, from Crookwell is among the five farmers to be featured, with a Bathurst woman to be among the eight ladies vying for his affections.

And the divorced father of three, who said his sisters-in-law encouraged him to apply to be on the show, also has family links to Bathurst through the famous Seaman name.

"Once I started the process it got a life of its own," he said.

Mr Seaman said he's already had his fair share of relationship ups and downs and was keen to find love again.

He admits when he first received a callback following his application he thought it was a "gee up" but decided to take the plunge and see what happened.

"I was certainly nervous, there's not many times you go into something where you're dating eight girls," he said.

"It would be classified as every man's dream but, when you have a think about it, it also falls into the nightmare category.

"It wasn't all bells and whistles."

While he's not sure he believes in love at first sight, he does believe in "the spark".

"A lot of what I looked for was that spark, that instant attraction. That can't be faked or denied," he said.

"The show was certainly what I hoped for."

While the five farmers are from across Australia, Mr Seaman revealed that some of the show's filming is done in and around Bathurst.

"It showcases some fantastic parts of the world," he said.

"It's a fantastic story, you've got five genuine country blokes way out of their element chasing love."

Mr Seaman also revealed a few other things to the Western Advocate - he's got a "lifelong love affair" with the movie Dirty Dancing, his favourite holiday destination is Positano in Italy and his celebrity crush is Tea Leoni in the Bad Boys era.

When asked what the best things about Crookwell are, he answered without hesitation - people and potatoes.

"Crookwell people are fantastic, they're friendly and they're accommodating," he said.

In Australia, the Farmer Wants a Wife has resulted in nine marriages and 20 country babies.

The show will launch its 2020 season on Channel Seven on Sunday, July 26.
