And just as it looked like their best performance of the season so far would reward them with their first taste of victory it was taken away in the dying minutes of the match.
The 1-all result for Panorama came of the back of their most impressive 90 minutes of the WPL - and a draw away to the 2019 Bathurst District Football champions is still a solid result - but the Goats know it could have been two points more.
Despite the win just getting away from the team PFC'S Beau Yates said it was a much more pleasing brand of football from the Goats in round three.
"The boys really lifted after last week's disappointing results, turned up and played some really good football in patches so we were pretty happy with the result," he said.
"Although it is a bit heartbreaking to lose in what was probably the last 30 seconds."
The returning Jacob Soetens capitalised on Panorama's strong start to the game, slotting home the opening goal of the match before the midway point of the first half.
The game saw both teams creating their share of chances but Panorama still looked in control as the hosts threw everything they could at trying to land the equaliser.
Half-time did little to disrupt Panorama's hold on the game and later into the term the visitors had a golden opportunity to go ahead from a spot kick.
Nathan Davis earned the penalty and Soetens stepped up to take it. Unfortunately for Panorama the shot was stopped, and the news got worse from there.
Soetens was sent off for sliding into the Lithgow goalkeeper on his follow up attempt, and the momentum for the remaining 10 minutes started to turn the hosts' way.
Panorama defended strongly while down a man and it looked like they'd be taking the three points home but on a last-minute corner attempt Lithgow broke through to break the Goats' hearts.
"We held the upper hand throughout the whole game really and they didn't threaten us too much," Yates said.
"The end was a bit heartbreaking but it was still a really good performance.
"If you're going down there you take the 1-all every day of the week but with the way it played out it ended up feeling like a loss."
Panorama have a tough clash awaiting them against the Orana Spurs in round four but Yates is confident is similar level of football from the Lithgow game will allow the Goats to put up a good fight.
