Local artist Stephen Hogan has launched a new exhibition in the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery [BRAG] foyer investigating social constructs through the shape and form of steel objects.

The exhibition, entitled Imagine, encompasses 12 steel creations inspired by Hogan's perceptions on life, society and emotions.
"All the works are made with recycled steel, and I let the steel tell me what it wants to be," he said.
"I draw inspiration from a range of different mediums, from song titles to the works of other artists, and each work is specifically designed to make people think."
Hogan has collected steel for much of his life and for the last eight years, he has concentrated his collection into thought-provoking works of art.
The exhibition explores deeper concepts such as depression [ever present black dog] and breaking free from the shackles of conformity [I won't be another brick in the wall].
But Hogan said the beauty of an artwork is its power to evoke different thoughts and emotions in each person.
"There's form, shape and messages in everything we observe, whether it be steel, wood or rocks," he said.
"As an artist, you never expect everyone to like what you create, but you want your art to stimulate people's minds."
Hogan won the 3D section in Bathurst Regional Council's Waste 2 Art competition in 2012 and 2013, and his works have been included in numerous sculptural exhibitions across NSW.
