A report to councillors by engineering services director Darren Sturgiss said council had previously adopted a policy in 2010 that banned smoking within 10 metres of all children's playgrounds and council-owned sporting venues, and those restrictions remained in place.
However, a recent review of the 2010 policy highlighted one area that needed to be addressed.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
"Council's policy in respect to smoking restrictions in playgrounds and sports grounds is still relevant and in line with the State Government laws," the report stated.
"However, it is recommended that council swimming pools be included in the document to reflect the State Government laws that prohibits smoking within public areas at these venues."
Mr Sturgiss' report said no smoking signage was already in place at council sporting fields, playgrounds and the Manning Aquatic Centre.
