THREE new exhibitions are set to start at Bathurst Regional Art Gallery from Saturday, August 15. The 2019 Archibald Prize, the Bathurst Young Archies Competition and Pictures of You will all be on display for eight weeks. Presented by the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the 2019 Archibald Prize for portraiture features media personalities Annabel Crabb, Benjamin Law and Leigh Sales, Paralympian Dylan Alcott, rugby league star Greg Inglis and musician Megan Washington.

Bathurst Macquarie Lions Club's regular Riverside Markets at Berry Park will resume this Saturday. COVID-safe measures will be in place to allow the event to run safely. Around 25 stallholders will be selling various goods and the Macquarie Lions food van will be selling hot and cold drinks, egg and bacon rolls and sausage sandwiches. The markets will run from 10am to 2pm.
Bathurst Regional Council needs the community's help to better understand the impact visiting friends and relatives have on the Bathurst region economy. A short survey will help council in its tourism planning and in ensuring the region is meeting the needs of visitors today and into the future. All who complete the survey will go into the draw to win one of 20 Buy Local Gift Cards to the value of $25. The survey can be accessed at the Tourism Feedback project on YourSay Bathurst.
Organisers of the upcoming Bathurst Eisteddfod are looking for volunteers to help run the event. Helpers can volunteer for a morning, a day or an evening, though they will be required to have a Working With Children Check. Bestseller Adam Courtenay will be in Bathurst today (Friday, July 31) for Bathurst Library's first in-person event since March. Courtenay will be talking about his latest book, The Ghost And The Bounty Hunter, which details the story of convict William Buckley, who lived for 32 years with the Wadawurrung people of Geelong, becoming the first "white-man Aborigine". Numbers for the event at the library, which will start at 6pm, will be strictly limited due to COVID-19 guidelines. Bookings can be made via Eventbrite or by calling the library on 6333 6281.
Dr Nick Fuller will speak about his new book Interval Weight Loss For Women at the library on Thursday, August 13 at 6pm. Dr Fuller will address all the pitfalls and hurdles women face, providing simple and effective advice. Bookings are limited.
