Last Saturday the Giants had their impressive run of 16 games without loss come to an end when falling to the Bathurst Lady Bushrangers by two points.
While they naturally would have preferred to win, neither the Giants players or coach Liz Kennedy were overly disappointed given they played well against a strong opponent.
"The girls were so upbeat at training and even after the game they weren't that upset, they were annoyed that they lost - but we only lost by two points and it wasn't like it was a grand final, we didn't lose a sheep station or anything like that," Kennedy said "It was a great game .. .onwards and upwards."
The Giants will be looking to take that upwards step on Saturday when hosting Cowra, especially given they will be playing for the Broes-Reid Cup for the first time.
"It's something that when the junior club at the Giants started, Kimmy Reid and Shane Broes put up a cup for the juniors to play off for. Because Cowra's juniors aren't functioning this year, we've decided the women are playing for that cup," Kennedy said.
"Kimmy, he's been around as long as I can remember and that's a long time. Shane was one of our foundation members and if it wasn't for Shane, the Giants wouldn't be here. So absolutely it's great to play for the cup, It'll be a special day."
For Giants defender Sarah Taylor the match carries extra significance as not only is Kim Reid her father, but the Cowra side she will face includes her sister Brahe-Ashlie Reid.
She has made the switch to Cowra after being a member of the Batemans Bay Seahawks outfit which made last year's Canberra grand final.
Opening bounce will be at 1pm at George Park 1.
