Bec Bosianek is a player well-versed with the competitive drive that comes with being part of the Bathurst City set-up, but she knows in 2020 every women's Premier League Hockey competition point holds more significance.
With just seven rounds - three of which have already been completed - before the finals, the competition for ladder positions is intense.
Bathurst City is currently sitting fifth and Bosianek admits the pressure to climb is something she and her team-mates feel. It intensifies their already strong desire to win.
"It's strange that it's such a short season. Jill [Long, coach] highlighted the fact we only have four games to go at training on Wednesday, so it's a bit surreal," the striker said.
"We feel that pressure and the win is everything, you must come away with the win every game to be in that top position as a grand final contender."
Bosianek, a member of the 2017 premiership winning side, missed City's first two games of the season. She returned last Saturday as City went down 1-0 to competition leaders Lithgow Panthers.
Though it was not the win City wanted, Bosianek saw enough from the squad to suggest that City can push for a spot in the finals.
"We started to click as a team and to come away with a 1-0 loss is good on our part considering we conceded that first goal early in that first quarter," she said.
"It was just unfortunate some of our shots weren't on point and we're working on that for the future. We've clicked, we just need to capitalise on our chances, make the most of them and put some in the back of the net."
This Saturday City will host third-placed Confederates. The Orange side was gifted a round one win as Parkes fielded an unregistered player, they beat CYMS 3-0, then drew 2-all with Ex-Services last week.
Still, Bosianek believes City can build on the positives of last week. She feels the combination of experienced players and new recruit Emily Thompson from Lithgow Panthers will become "a deadly one to watch".
"Feds are going well so it's not going to be easy, but we want to catch them, that's the plan," she said.
"Hopefully we come out strong, we were looking strong at training and hopefully that converts to a win in the game."
The match will commence at 12.45pm.
