The bottom-of-the-table meeting against a struggling CYMS side won't be a better chance for the two blues to snare their first win of the season.
There's confidence in the camp following a comeback effort against Parkes United last round, where a pair of second half goals gave the team a 2-all draw and their first points of the year.
Souths coach Chris Stafford believes the right sort of hockey has been there in patches, and if that gets stitched together into a complete game then his team should emerge as winners.
"It's definitely a bit of a make-or-break game. We need a win otherwise we're getting too far away from that top four," he said.
"Everything we've worked on each week we've improved on. From last week's game it was our decision making, and from training on Tuesday night we've done some work which will hopefully improve that.
"Candice Falconer played her first game at centre half last week, which she didn't know until she turned up on Saturday, so we've worked a bit on what her role is in the middle. We've tried to simplify roles as players are finding their feet."
Complacency against any young, enthusiastic side is always a trap in Stafford's eyes.
"They've been one of the top teams for a while. They've lost a lot of players this year but they'll be full of enthusiasm and you don't turn up for a team like that then they can get you," he said.
"It's about working on what we've seen from the sideline, but it can be an easy game when you're only watching it from there. But hopefully those couple of things that we've been working on at training can be put into practice."
Souths and CYMS fight for their first points at Bob Roach Field from 12.45pm.
