There are so many smiling fools and spin-doctors with hidden agendas who are selling you a giant lie.
Your journey from Bathurst to Lithgow might be a tad faster due to the roadwork which has already been done, but don't think for one minute that any widening of the Great Western Highway across the Blue Mountains will shorten your journey to Sydney.
You will hit the base of Mount Victoria and start your cautious climb up the 10 per cent gradient (13.3 per cent in places) - just like today. No change.
You will get to Mount Victoria and enter the 60 kilometres per hour zone - just like today. No change.
You will then continue your long drive along the Great Western Highway and encounter 27 sets of traffic lights, 16 different speed zones, six school zones and the usual traffic jams - just like today. No change.
Oh no - wait - that will change. They will be adding traffic lights and speed zones.
Can anyone honestly imagine there will be any time saved, any journey shortened?
Bathurst, you're being placated - not helped.
