A spokesperson for Kmart was responding to concerns raised by the Bathurst Business Chamber that there were a number of questions to be answered about the planned conversion.
"We are converting the existing Target space in Bathurst, this means the new Kmart store will remain the same size," the spokesperson said.

The company has also confirmed a "guaranteed job offer for all the Target team" currently employed in Bathurst.
"Kmart has experienced strong growth over several years and the Group are very confident its presence will provide numerous benefits, including direct and indirect employment opportunities for people in your community," the spokesperson said.
After months of speculation, the Kmart Group confirmed in July that Bathurst's Target store would be converted to a Kmart.
"Across the Kmart Group we want to build profitable and sustainable businesses and one of the ways we can achieve this is through optimisation of our store network," the Kmart Group said in a statement.
"We have made a significant effort to avoid store closures and retain our team by converting suitable Target stores to Kmart stores.
"We can confirm that our Target Bathurst store will become a Kmart on 29 October 2020. All team members in Target stores scheduled for conversion to Kmart, including Bathurst, will be offered the opportunity to join the growing Kmart team."
