Harun Rashid has a son who attends the school in Year 1 said he is worried about the children crossing the road, given their young age and the fact their is no one regulating the traffic.
"As a parent I'm worried about the risks," he said.
While there is a pedestrian crossing at the intersection of George and Lambert streets, Mr Rashid said students enter the school via the Lambert Street gate, and he feels this is where the crossing needs to be.
"When I've dropped my son off there I've seen other cars passing the area very quickly.
"It's also a very busy road, with other commuters using the area, and I'm worried about the risk for children crossing the road.
"This gate to the school is used by a lot of kindergarten students. They are only five and six years old, they are vulnerable because of their young age.
"All that needs to happen is for them, or a driver, not to be paying attention (and someone will be hurt).
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
"They could be talking to their friends, they could just run across the road, or a driver might not be paying attention.
Mr Rashid said one morning his wife was dropping their son off to school and she was rushing because she was running late.
"She was half way across the road and she tripped and fell down. There were cars coming in both directions, and she wasn't sure if they would stop. Luckily they saw her and did stop. But I worry what would happen if that was a child.
"If there was a crossing it would be much safer for everyone."
Acknowledging their were crossings at the intersections of George and Rocket streets and Lambert and George streets, Mr Rashid said the crossings really should meet the school gates.
"Most kids go out the gate and cross the road where they walk out the gate.
"It's a normal process to have a gate then a crossing" he said, citing Assumption School and West Bathurst as examples.
Transport for NSW Director West, Alistair Lunn said: "Transport for NSW will consider the request for pedestrian crossing facilities on Lambert Street and will contact Bathurst Public School in the next week to discuss the request."
