The rugby league competition involves teams from regional and metropolitan areas and both Dubbo CYMS and the Western Rams have travelled to Sydney, the Illawarra and the Hunter for matches in recent weeks.
They will be allowed to continue, despite so many other sporting competitions in NSW involving travel between different regions being cancelled.
In joint statement released by chief executive officers from NSW Rugby League, Hockey NSW, Netball NSW, AFL NSW-ACT, NSW Rugby Union and Football NSW on Wednesday evening, it was announced community sport would continue but events that involve the mixing of participants and staff from different regions, like zone, regional or state championships, would be cancelled.
Different rules are in place for semi-professional sport, with the state government allowing those competitions to continue with a COVID Safety Plan in place and they must "encourage full compliance with all elements of the plan".
State sporting organisations are able to have the final say on semi-professional competitions and after a NSW Rugby League (NSWRL) meeting on Thursday morning a representative confirmed the competition would go on.
"Given there's been no outbreaks and we've complied with everything we're very comfortable with the competition continuing," the NSWRL representative said.
Measures have been in place at all grounds hosting matches this season while a number of sides are doing all they can to minimise travel.
The Wentworthville Magpies are scheduled to take on the Western Rams at Mudgee this Saturday and the Sydney club is expected to make the trip there and back in the one day.
The Rams have previously convened in Bathurst and Mudgee the night before a game previously before travelling to Wollongong and Maitland respectively on the day of a game.
