MUCH of the Central Tablelands has woken to a winter wonderland this morning following heavy overnight snow across the region.

There has been a light dusting of snow on Mount Panorama but the region's heaviest falls have been in Oberon where snow several centimetres deep has covered the district.
Bathurst junior sports - including rugby league, rugby union, hockey, soccer and netball - have been called off this morning while the scheduled Bathurst Farmers' Market at Bathurst Showground was also cancelled earlier this week.
The snow has also created hazardous conditions on local roads.

All roads in the Oberon Council area are closed as crews continue to assess their condition but the major roads in and out of Bathurst are open to traffic with police urging motorists to slow down and drive to conditions.
The latest update from the Traffic Management Centre says:
- The Great Western Highway and Mitchell Highway have reopened following earlier closures due to snow and icy conditions.
- The Great Western Highway had been closed between Bathurst and Marangaroo while the Mitchell Highway was closed from Shadforth to Dunkeld.
- Jenolan Caves Road is now closed between Hampton and Hartley due to the extreme conditions.

"Motorists should plan ahead, drive to the conditions and check council websites or social media pages for local road information," the TMC says.
