That's the advice from SES, who were called out twice on Sunday to rescue two groups trapped in flood water after trying to traverse a flooded crossing.
The first call out was around midday on Sunday, when the Bathurst SES flood rescue team was activated to assist NSW SES Sofala Unit with reports of two people on their vehicle trapped in flood water on the Bridle Track, Hill End.
Bathurst SES responded four in-water flood rescue technicians, with crews extracting the pair, who were then transferred by NSW Road Ambulance to hospital for treatment.
Just six hours later at around 6pm, the Bathurst SES flood rescue team was again activated to assist NSW SES Portland Unit with reports two children and four adults were on an island isolated by flood water in the area of Lochaber Road, Capertee.
The unit was told the six people crossed the Turon River earlier that day and were unable to recross the river.

A spokesperson for the SES said their in water flood rescue technicians extricated the group in two stages due to the boat not being able to reach the persons.
"The in water flood technicians used the Arch Angel to transport two people at a time from one island to where the flood boat was situated in the middle of the Turon River.
"They then used the flood boat to transport the patients back to the mainland," they said.
NSW SES Sofala Unit were on scene with their community first responders and were able to assess the patients.
