The popular weekend of racing at Mount Panorama was due to take place over September 12 and 13 but in the interests of public safety organisers decided it wasn't possible to run the event.
Bathurst Light Car Club president Mick Tuckey said with drivers coming across the mountains to compete it would be going against the updated COVID-safe recommendations put in place.
"With the big event coming we had around 70 entries, predominantly coming out of Sydney and the western suburbs," he said.
"We were very concerned for the community and with the Bathurst 1000 and the new Bathurst International event trying to get off the ground we couldn't take that risk, also for Orange and the surrounding areas."
In a statment to the media, the BLCC said they were mindful of the potential for CIVD-19 infection to be introduced from Sydney, and the impact that could have on other competitors, volunteer officials, hotel staff and general public.
The club are hopeful they will be able to put the events back on the calendar for next year in May and August respectively.
Meanwhile, the club's local events have also taken a hit - this time from the weather.
Due to the recent rain, snow and lack of sunshine the Motorkhanna that was scheduled for last Sunday has been moved to the 30th where it's hoped sunnier conditions will greet the drivers.
However, due to the COVID-19 advice the club are unable to run the event as a 'come and try' day using club cars, as a result of the limited number of club cars available and the logistics of cleaning between use.
"We hope that community members and motorsport enthusiasts understand and appreciate our position and the reasons for such action under the circumstances," the BLCC statement read.
