The markets returned in August after a hiatus due to the COVID pandemic and were held again last Saturday, when there were 35 stallholders present.
"That was up almost 20 per cent on the previous market in August," Macquarie Lions Club of Bathurst publicity officer Jon Maclean said.
He said the NSW Rural Fire Service used the markets to promote the upcoming Get Ready Weekend (September 19-20), which aims to encourage people to be prepared for the forthcoming bushfire season.
"Members of the Bathurst Brigade were on hand to offer advice and demonstrate their ongoing role in the community and were a popular attraction," he said.
"Crowds were particularly strong in the early part of the day and patrons adhered to the social distancing regulations still in place.
"Food We Do had a successful return and the Macquarie Lions Club of Bathurst food van also had a good day, members needing to replenish food supplies at one point during proceedings.
"Lion Will Birkenstock entertained the crowd with his music and fine singing voice, adding to the wonderful atmosphere of the event."
The next market day will be on Saturday, October 3 at Berry Park, reverting to the 8am to 1pm timeslot, Mr Maclean said.
He said Lions Christmas cakes will also be available at this market.
"Anyone thinking of joining the Macquarie Lions Club of Bathurst is invited to come along and have a chat with any of the members on hand during the day for further information," he said.
