Ms Moore-Gilbert, a former student of All Saints' College, was arrested in Iran in September 2018 while at an educational conference and later convicted of espionage.

On Sunday morning, 20 people come together at the Macquarie River to run in support of Ms Moore-Gilbert.

Former classmate Rosie Cheung said Ms Moore-Gilbert is a "very dear" friend to her.

"Kylie has always been the most supportive friend you could've ever asked for," she said.

"This was a way of supporting her and letting her know that we really love her and miss her and that she's not alone. We're there for her."

Ms Cheung said it was special to see so many people coming together to show their support for Ms Moore-Gilbert.

"It's really special. Bathurst has really come out," she said.

"It's an especially hard day with her anniversary, but it's so nice to see people coming out to support her."

Ms Cheung described her former All Saints College classmate as a "supportive person".

"She's a great friend and she's very supportive, very strong and very determined," she said.

"Anytime she'd travel, she'd keep in touch by sending postcards. She was just really good at keeping in touch even though she travelled so much.

"She's a very thoughtful person as well and she's always been extremely strong."

Following Ms Moore-Gilbert's detainment, she was held in solitary confinement for nearly two years, before she was transferred to Qarchak prison in July.

Sunday marked two years since Ms Moore-Gilbert was imprisoned, with the run being organised by the FreeKylieMG group.

The FreeKylieMG group is made up of her friends and colleagues, with the group calling on the Australian government to urgently explore all diplomatic options to bring Ms Moore-Gilbert home.
