CHARLES Sturt University hopes that more prospective students will be able to attend than normal as it holds its open days in a virtual format for the first time.

The university will hold the virtual open days - featuring campus video tours and information about courses, admission, accommodation and facilities - on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, September 15-17 and a last one on Saturday, September 26.

"Research across the higher education sector indicates that open days are a key touchpoint and milestone in a future student's decision-making journey," Charles Sturt deputy vice-chancellor (students) Jenny Roberts said.
She said the open days are particularly important this year as the COVID-19 pandemic has had a big impact on year 12 students and many might be concerned about their options after school.
"Our open days will include a lot of information about admission and pathways to university, including how we have expanded our participation in the Schools Recommendation Schemes, which assists students to use their year 11 results and recommendations from their school to enrol in university courses," she said.
"We've also planned a number of interactive information sessions on all of our different courses, including health and medicine, agriculture, education, business, law, communications, engineering, and information technology, to name a few.
"With this year's open day events being held online for the first time, we hope that an even larger number of prospective students can attend and take advantage of the opportunity to soak up as much knowledge and ask as many questions as they can."
