I personally can see merit to both sides and feel that in these times we could look to find a middle ground, a silver lining.
From a managing COVID risk perspective, I believe the teams and crews are doing all the right things to enter our community safely, even down to the co-driver "bubble".

With the issue of spectators, as much as I would love to see our usual crowds and the energy it creates in the town, I agree wholeheartedly that this cannot happen in the current world.
That said, the event can and should still go ahead with the global coverage showcasing what Bathurst and surrounds has to offer outside of a racetrack once the world heads out of a pandemic.
We could look to have a COVID safe crowd, that being one based on the 2795 communities only - even extended to the Central West.
It would be a year where locals who may never have experienced what the great race is get this rare opportunity to enjoy the event held in their own backyard.
I look to the Fun Fair held last weekend and it has shown a good COVID safe event can be done if the people attending follow the guidelines put in place from the start.
