Detectives are appealing for public assistance in identifying the culprits following the alleged home invasion in West Bathurst.
Police said at about 11.30pm on Monday, three unknown men - armed with a knife and a pole - forced their way into the home.
Police have been told the men allegedly assaulted and threatened the occupants, a 39-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman, before ransacking the home and fleeing with tools, cash and jewellery.
Officers from Chifley Police District attended and established a crime scene. The man was treated at Bathurst Hospital for minor injuries and was later released. The woman was uninjured.
Crime Manager for Chifley Police District, Detective Inspector Luke Rankin said at this stage of the investigation police believe the home invasion was targeted, although they are not ruling out any lines of investigation.
"It is our suspicion it wasn't a random attack," he said.
