Bathurst residents hit the streets early on Thursday morning to seek out an ideal bargain as part of the annual crazy day event.

A joint promotion between the Western Advocate, Prime 7 and Bathurst Regional Council, Crazy Day is held each year in September to give participating businesses the opportunity to clear excess stock, as well as promote the importance of shopping locally.
The promotion saw 16 local businesses take part, including Gorgeuousness [Boutique and Home], De Jorja and Bake, Table and Tea.
Bake Table and Tea owner Mel Kelly said the event attracted a devoted crowd of regulars despite the "wild and woolly" weather.
"This is the fourth year we've been involved in Crazy Day, and customers showed particular interests in our decorative items as well as our teacup sets," Ms Kelly said.
Ms Kelly said Crazy Day provides a unique opportunity for non-chain businesses to part ways with excess stock that has built up over the last 12 months.
"It's one of our only opportunities each year to clear older stock to make room for newer merchandise," she said.
"Local stores who aren't aligned with a franchise often don't have the luxury of an outlet store for excess stock, so these sales events are really helpful."
"It allows us to freshen up our stores, get new stock in and bolster our coffers to invest back into our business."
"It's nice to see everyone supportive and positive in these crazy times."
Each shopper went into the draw to win a series of $1000 Visa cards, with one reserved for Crazy Day shoppers wearing colourful masks.
