Since the inaugural edition of the Twenty20 tournament in season 2015-16, cricket associations across the Central West have placed more of an emphasis on the short format.
That has played a role in seeing the Wranglers reach the semi-final stage of the Regional Bash the last two summers and get to play at the SCG. But taking the next step and reaching the decider is the Wranglers' goal.
That means selectors are on the hunt for the region's best T20 players and as such, have named two teams for an intra-squad trial which will be played in Bathurst on Sunday, October 11.
Incumbent Wranglers skipper and Rugby Union star Jameel Qureshi will lead one of those teams - the Qureshi Killers.
His team-mates include Bathurst duo Henry Shoemark, who cracked 26 off 21 in last summer's Regional Bash semi-final loss to the ACT Aces, and opening bowler Matt Stephen.
Bathurst young gun Cooper Brien and Mark Day have also been named in the Killers.
The second team - the Morrish Maulers - will be led by Orange City talent Ed Morrish and includes a strong Bathurst presence with Ryan Peacock, Bailey Brien, Adam Ryan, Connor Slattery, Dave Sellers, Joseph Coughlan, Mitch Taylor and Dave Henderson.
St Pat's Old Boys club-mates Ryan, Taylor and Slattery were all members of the Wranglers side which played at the SCG on Australia Day this year, while Coughlan and Peacock played in the inaugural campaign for the Central West outfit.
