Director of Engineering Services Darren Sturgiss, from Bathurst Regional Council, said council received a call shortly after 1pm on Sunday regarding a break in a water main in Brilliant Street.
"Council staff replaced 2.7metres of pipe and replaced a water service also located in the area.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
"Water was disconnected to properties in Brilliant Street between Havannah and Seymour Streets while the work was undertaken."
Mr Sturgiss said there was no obvious cause for the break in the pipe, other than the infrastructure was aged and gave way.
"Water was restored to properties in the area by around 5pm."
Police blocked off the road while repairs were underway, with the SES assisting by sandbagging the fence lines and driveways of affected properties, preventing the water from flooding houses.
