Councillors have backed their colleague Warren Aubin and the Bathurst Health Services Action Group in their fight for improved health facilities and services for residents.
They made their positions clear at the last meeting of Bathurst Regional Council, where they considered a notice of motion from Cr Aubin on the local health district and Bathurst Health Service.
The notice of motion included eight action points, with a ninth later added, for council to take in the fight for better health services.
These included encouraging the local health district to finalise its infrastructure planning, to request the NSW Government to prepare and publish a long-term capital works plan for health infrastructure in the region, and to commence discussions with Lithgow City Council on its preferred local health district model.
Councillor Monica Morse pointed to Cr Aubin to give council direction on the next steps, and also acknowledged the work he has done so far.
"He's done a fantastic job as promoting Bathurst as a place for good medical services," she said.
Councillor Alex Christian said the actions outlined in the notice of motion were "strong, direct, exactly what we need".
Deputy mayor Ian North made similar comments, while also calling for regular reports at council meetings to provide updates on the situation, like what has been occurring all year on the topic of water security.

Cr North also encouraged monthly meetings between council and the action group to inform those reports, stressing the importance of working together.
"Cr Aubin, whatever support you need, every single councillor here will support you, but I think it's at the stage where we need this group in here, we as a council need to do what we've done with water - regular monthly reports," he said, adding that the state and federal politicians that represent Bathurst need to be giving their support, too.
"We need to start barking on as hard as we can and I think no better way is every month if we can have a report here on what's going on with health - or what's not going on with health - and the struggles that Cr Aubin and his group are having."
Cr Aubin said the next thing the action group wants to do is have another meeting with the NSW Minister for Health, Brad Hazzard.
Member for Bathurst Paul Toole arranged a meeting between Mr Hazzard and the action group in late 2019, which was labelled "productive". It is hoped a second meeting would further their cause.
"We need to put this in front of the highest level. We cannot go backwards from here, we need to keep taking forward steps," Cr Aubin said.
"If that means joining with Lithgow, if it means getting community involved in pushing for these things and pushing for better services, then that's the way we have to go.
"I bought this in to council from the action group so that we can give this an absolute thump, that's what we need to give it, and these people that are running the health system need to get on notice that we are not going to back down, we are not going to go away, and we are calling for better services at the Bathurst hospital, to be on equilibrium with Dubbo and Orange, and no less."
