Bathurst Regional Council is again holding a window display competition, encouraging businesses to decorate their shopfronts to celebrate the event.
Events manager Hannah Welch said that council has received a number of registrations, with more to come.
"The Bathurst 1000 off track events is a long established tradition of race week for more than a decade, and the business window display competition is one of the popular aspects of building excitement in the community in the lead up to the race," she said.
"There are already more than 15 businesses who registered their interest in the first few days and we expect this number will grow.
"The businesses are spread around the CBD and further afield and include facilities such as some of our aged care centres."
Each premises will receive a starter pack from council, but staff are encouraged to let their creativity show with their displays.
Among the businesses joining the competition is Rockabilly Café.
Waitress Claire Varian said the staff enjoy decorating the café, regardless of the occasion, and are already thinking of ways to celebrate the race.
"I think we're going to set it all up and change our uniforms to race shirts," she said, explaining they did something similar last year.
Ms Welch said the competition allows the community to celebrate the race, brings businesses together and brightens up the town.
The displays will be judged and prizes awarded to the best ones.
