MAT Rue knows Ziggy Rocks will be hard pressed to take the top prize in this Friday night's Bathurst Shoot Out (1,730 metres) but a chance to take early cover might help give him a shot.

Ziggy Rocks has found it difficult to found racing appropriate for his grade of late and that trend has continued into this meeting, coming up against runners more than 20 points higher than him in rating.
But, as they say, you've got to be in it to win it.
Ziggy Rocks finished last in his most recent outing at a much lower grade, which isn't a big vote of confidence for his next attempt.
Rue said with a bit of luck he's hopeful of landing a place against the quality field this Friday.
"Ziggy's been a bit out of sorts of late. Two runs back I was happy with the way he went at Menangle. Then he got back in a slowly run race in his last start," he said.
"He didn't beat any of them home but he was only behind by six metres. He's training well but he hasn't had a run for around three weeks even though I've been nominating him everywhere.
"In this one I'm hoping to get across to the fence and take a sit maybe on Maestro Bellini and he should run a good race."
Among the field is Chris Frisby's star filly Jenden Strike, chasing her third straight win in a row after her Western Districts Derby success.
The back row sees Jarrod Alchin's One Hell Of A Ride looking to add to his recent Menangle victory and Peter Trevor-Jones' veteran Beeton attempting to take another step towards the 50-win mark.
Kanena Provlima makes his return for Ben Settree. If he makes a return close to the quality of his recent preparation then the field could be in trouble.
Rue would love to see his runner give them a push.
"He's not doing too much wrong compared to when he was going good," Rue said of Ziggy Rocks.
"I'm not sure he could win it but he's a good place shot if he can get across and get that sit. It's a very handy group of horses, that's for sure."
If Ziggy Rocks continues to struggle in his quest to find the right sort of races to enter then there's a possibility he could wind up in Queensland.
Friday is a relatively quiet night for Rue who has no other horses in action on Friday, and just two other drives on Aaron Williams' She's Koala Tee and Peter Bullock's Leah Shannon.
"She's Koala Tee has been racing very honest but it looks like the two-year-old has a stranglehold on that race," Rue said of Bernie Hewitt's Infinity Beach.
The Bathurst Shoot Out is the feature event of the meeting and carries a $10,000 prize purse, and will jump from 8.01pm.
The eight race meeting at Bathurst Paceway gets underway from 6.31pm.
