Tattykeel is one of the small and medium-sized businesses in regional NSW set to benefit from a co-ordinated NSW Government push to showcase local products and develop global export sales.
Member for Bathurst Paul Toole said the NSW Government's $12 million Going Global Package includes grants of up to $10,000 for eligible businesses through the Export Assistance Grant scheme.
Mr Toole visited Tattykeel to meet with Graham Gilmore and his sons, James and Ross, to see first-hand their highly prized "Aussie Whites" breed and learn more about their innovative new brand called Margra Lamb - a lamb with a micro-marbled finish and low fat melting point for a delicate meat that is incredibly succulent.
Graham said their vision was to create a full haired meat sheep with good carcase traits and eating quality.
"We far exceeded our dreams in regards to the eating quality of Margra Lamb, which has been developed through years of careful breeding and research," he said.
"Exporting is a great way for regional businesses to stay competitive and build resilience, despite the challenges of COVID-19.
"We're a family farm that's changing the boundaries. We're actually creating a new product that's got some pretty unique eating qualities.
"Developing markets overseas is an important part of our plan to support that work."
Mr Toole said that helping home-grown businesses succeed in the global marketplace is more important than ever before.
"Here in NSW we have some of the best produce in the world," he said. "That is why the NSW Government is co-ordinating export assistance across a range of initiatives, including market tailored workshops, business matching and exporter grants of up to $10,000."
Applications for the Going Global program can be submitted now, and the Export Assistance Grants application is also available.
