It was the first sausage sizzle since March, with the weekly fundraiser placed on hold due to COVID-19.
Bathurst Pan Dragons fundraising officer Vicki Gransden said it was an absolute pleasure to bring the popular event back after seven months away.
"It was very busy, particularly around lunchtime," Ms Gransden said.
"We started off a bit slow but when the lunch crowd came, the queue was banked up back into the store."
Ms Gransden said the Pan Dragon volunteers operated the sausage sizzle under the necessary COVID-safe precautions, including separate ordering and pick-up points, increased hygiene practices and signage.
"Bunnings' Bathurst staff provided all the personal protective equipment [PPE] and sanitary products, and they set up the barbecue area really well," she said.
"We're appreciative for the community's patience on the day, as we understand the social distancing requirements and changes to barbecue protocol resulted in longer wait times."
Ms Gransden said Bunnings sausage sizzles play a large role in supporting small organisations such as the Bathurst Pan Dragons, who promote dragon boating in the local community.
"The funds raised from these sausage sizzles allow us to invest in the club's resources, participate in regatta events, and attract new members," she said.
Ms Gransden said the club is always on the lookout for new members and those interested are encouraged to visit the Bathurst Pan Dragons website.
