The burpee challenge is encouraging visitors to the gym to donate funds towards LIVIN, Snap Fitness' mental health charity of choice, and every dollar raised will account for the number of burpees each staff member will do.
"We'd like to reach $1000, as LIVIN is dedicated to breaking the stigma around mental health," Snap Fitness Bathurst manager Karly McDonald said.
"There's been a lot of interest in our free gym week so far, and some of our members are participating in a mental health challenge to express the importance of speaking out when things aren't quite right."
Ms McDonald said physical health plays a vital role in improving a person's mental wellbeing.
"A lot of our members use a gym session as a means to achieve desirable fitness goals," she said.
"Gym sessions also help with focus and mindfulness, which can be of significant benefit to someone dealing with stress."
