That is the message from mayor Bobby Bourke, who is urging residents and visitors to the city to do the right thing on Sunday.
Cr Bourke said that people who weren't able to travel or get a ticket needed to stick to the television coverage to enjoy the event.
He warned that police would be out in force to ensure the event remained safe for everyone.
"I know there are those die-hard fans out there who would like to come and watch the action, but please stay away if you don't have a ticket and make it easier on police," he said.
"For those other fans from Victoria, New Zealand and Queensland, Bathurst will dig in deeper and cheer for you this weekend because it's disappointing that you can't be here with us."
