To welcome the Mustang to Supercars at the start of 2019, McLaughlin raced a unique Ford Mustang GT Fastback in a speed comparison around the Adelaide street circuit alongside Ford icons Dick Johnson and Marcos Ambrose.
Now, that same Mustang will be auctioned off to raise money for Camp Quality.
The Mustang still bears McLaughlin's name and the three-time Supercars champion is happy to see it being used to support a very worthy charity.
"Sharing the track with two Ford legends like Dick and Marcos was a hell of an experience and one I'll never forget. To now see the car being auctioned with all proceeds going to Camp Quality is just awesome," he said.
It's thanks to Ryan Story, Team Principal of the Shell V-Power Racing Team and a Camp Quality ambassador, with support from Ford Australia and Shannons, that the legendary car is now being auctioned off to car enthusiasts, while also helping kids facing cancer be kids again.
"Camp Quality is a charity very close to my heart and I'm very proud to support them," Mr Story said.
"This year has been tough for everyone, but it hasn't stopped the important work Camp Quality do to support sick kids with cancer and their families.
"This Mustang is a very special car, not to mention being the only one Scott has raced that he hasn't won in!"
Camp Quality CEO Deborah Thomas said the generosity of everyone involved in the auction will help to support more Australian children impacted by cancer.
"Camp Quality families face their worst nightmare when a child is diagnosed with cancer," she said.
"Thanks to the incredible support of Camp Quality ambassador Ryan Story and Ford Australia, as well as Shannons, this auction will enable us to be there for more kids and their families throughout the cancer experience: in-hospital; at home; at school and away from it all on one of our camps and at our retreats."
