In just his second summer playing with ORC, 14-year-old Borgstahl certainly made an impression in his Bathurst District Junior Cricket Association under 15s-opens season opener.
His efforts with the ball - he took 5-11 off his 3.5 overs - helped the Tigers to a 130-run win over Saint Stanislaus' College under 15s at Morse Park 1.
"It was a really good moment, I know that not many people get a five-for and I'm one of them now who has got it. It was just such a good moment for me," the fast-medium bowler said.
"My brother Tait, I jumped on his shoulders and we were running around. He gave me a stump and I was holding the ball up.
"I got two catches and three bowled, my final wicket was in my final over. You only get four overs and it was my second-last ball."
It was a really good moment, I know that not many people get a five-for and I'm one of them now who has got it.
- Cooper Borgstahl
Sharing a celebration with his brother, who had earlier made 29 runs opening the batting for ORC, was fitting.
It was Tait who got Cooper into cricket and who took a remarkable catch to help him claim the first of his five wickets. The ball had burst through the hands of the cover fielder, but Tait had run in from deep cover and was able to grab the ricochet.
ORC had already made a good start to defending its 171-run total, with the first four Stannies wickets gone in the space of 10 runs.
When the Borgstahl brothers combined it made it 5-26.
"I've been playing for a couple of seasons now, I followed my older brother into it. I started off at soccer and then Tait needed help with his team so I decided I'd play cricket," Cooper Borgstahl said.
"Yeah he took a catch, he just happened to be there and he caught it."
He went on to take the next four wickets and was at one stage on a hat-trick. While not able to pull that off, he still held his nerve in his final over to notch up the impressive feat.
"I was the fourth one to go in to bowl and I didn't get any wickets in my first over. I was a bit nervous I didn't want to ruin it for the team," he said.
"I was on a hat-trick but I didn't get that though. I just bowled it too far to leg and he was able to leave it.
"The last wicket I think it was just a mistake he made, he tried to hit me far and he's missed it and it's gone straight into his stumps.
"I got hit for two fours from and then I got him out. I think he tried to hit me for another four but I got him.
"I'm definitely not the best batsman, but the bowling for me is good."
As well as having his brother there to enjoy the moment, Borgstahl's Mum and Dad were both there too.
His father Kelsy was very proud and also praised the more experienced members of the ORC side for giving Cooper the chance to claim five wickets and aiding his development.
"The team was definitely behind him, once he got four they were all working hard to help him get the five," he said.
"Because the team is opens there are quite a few good players in it like Jacob Ryan, Justin [Stephenson], [Tom] Judgey, they're all rep players.
"They're trying to take a back seat and I guess foster some of the junior guys in the team and getting them to do a bit more. They are a good bunch of kids and a good team."
Borgstahl's coach Matt Ryan said he was delighted to see the young talent bag a five-wicket haul. It's ORC's first in the under 15s-opens grade in two seasons, with Jacob Ryan having done it twice in 2018-19.
"There's nothing better than seeing a young kid like Coop with a smile from one ear to the other after achieving a rare five-for in the first game of the season," the coach said.
"What also makes this special is he's the youngest player by a few years playing well above his age group and handling it with ease.
"I think this is a credit to Cooper and also the senior players and coaches that put into the club week in and week out. Good stuff Cooper and ORC."
The next assignment for Borgstahl and his fellow Tigers is taking on the talented Scots All Saints' College Opens this Saturday.
SASC began their season with a commanding 70-run win.
