Mr Doherty, a learning support officer at Eglinton Public School, has already released two books in his fantasy series The Guardians of St. Giles and he's set to release the third book in the series called Olivia Stone and the Call of the Carnival in June next year.
He described Saturday as a successful day, as he sold an assortment of books and artworks.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
"I sold a few paintings and sold a few books and chatted to a few people," he said.
"I also did some live painting while I was there."
The The Guardians of St. Giles series is influenced by gargoyles and grotesques.
"I liked gargoyles and grotesques because they're ugly and scary but they were put on buildings to protect them from evil spirits," he said.
"The new book was due this year but because of COVID-19, the publishers won't be publishing anything this year because they couldn't do book launches or they couldn't do school visits.
"They've held it over to next year."
Mr Doherty did the artwork for the covers of his books, with the first two books in the St. Giles series to receive a makeover.
"Because there's been such a long wait for this to come out, we're actually doing second edition covers for the other books," he said.
"There'll be three, brand spanking new covers."
