Fox Music and Living Sound's 40 students will participate in a six-hour piano masterclass on Sunday, November 29 to raise awareness for the cottage, which assists patients undergoing cancer treatment.
Head teacher Cindy Fox said the marathon event will contribute to a vital health service that has faced significant disruption throughout 2020 due to COVID-19.
"This year has been challenging in many ways for lots of different people, so I thought this would be a great exercise to teach students about the importance of giving back to the local community," Ms Fox said.
"Daffodil Cottage support members of the community from many walks of life, so it only seems right to support them in return."
Ms Fox said the challenge of 2020 has also been felt by her students, who have spent much of the year learning through online lessons.
"The marathon will be a chance to showcase the pieces each student has been working on throughout the year, from classical to contemporary," she said.
"Each student will perform a five to 10 minute segment, and will enter and exit the studio one person at a time in accordance with COVID-safe guidelines."
Ms Fox said the students have put in a superb amount of effort into their chosen pieces, and will each command the piano in their own unique way.
"They've put in an amazing effort all year to keep making music even when things got tough," she said.
"One child has already raised $100 towards the cause, and we're aiming to raise $1000, but anything extra will be a bonus."
The marathon will be live streamed from the Fox Music and Living Sound Facebook page from 10am on Sunday November 29.
Fox Music and Living Sound deliver individual and shared piano lessons, as well as generalist music lessons for people of all ages.
