However, the two Orange games got underway, with Cavaliers and City Colts in a strong position to claim victory against CYMS and Centrals respectively.
Here's how the matches panned out ...
CAVALIERS (6-288 declared) leads CYMS (0-33) by 255 runs
Cavaliers is in a strong position to claim a fourth win of the season after declaring at 6-288.
Cavs won the toss and elected to bat at Riawena Oval and after losing opening bats Will Luelf and Kaleb Cook for low scores (both out with five and 13 runs respectively), skipper Mitch Corben came in at three and caused havoc for their city rivals with a strong hit of 80.
By the time Corben was dismissed, Cavs were at 4-180.
Fifth bat Cameron Laird (57 runs) and and seventh Wesley Lummis (63 runs, not out) both hit the half-century mark and by late afternoon, Cavs declared at 6-288 after 65 overs in the field.
There was still time for CYMS to have a hit and opening bats Thomas Belmonte (13 runs) and Rory Daburger (19 runs) combined to have their side at 0-33 at stumps.
Hugh Le Lievre was the standout for CYMS with the ball, taking 4-66 off 21 overs.
CITY COLTS (9-330 declared) leads Centrals (1-14) by 316 runs
Russell Gardner went ballistic for City Colts, with his undefeated whack of 156 the highest score of the season so far and just the second century this campaign.
Gardner came in as the number fourth batsman, with his side at 3-48 after the dismissal of Dave Sellers (30 runs), Henry Shoemark (seven runs) and Josh Toole (seven runs).
By the end of his stint on the field, Colts had declared at 9-330, as Gardner terrorised the Centrals bowling order.
Centrals bowlers Zac Reimer (4-95 off 15.5 overs) and Ed Dodds (4-80 off 22 overs) both took four wickets each, but both conceded close to 100 runs and neither were unable to find that elusive Gardner wicket.
Centrals only had four overs with the bat and it started in the worst possible manner, with Matt Stephen dismissing opening bat Max Powell for a duck in the first ball he faced.
Fellow opener Brenton Anthony has managed four runs so far, but hasn't been dismissed and neither has Kurt Gander, the number three bat still in with 10 runs to his name.
BATHURST CITY versus ORANGE CITY washed-out
The opening day of Bathurst City's crucial match against Orange City was unable to get underway, with recent rain in the Bathurst region forcing the closure of George Park 1.
Redbacks have only managed one win from their opening four rounds and the fifth-round match against the Orange heavyweights would've been an important game to get their finals push back on track.
They'll now have to get it done in just one day next Saturday.
RUGBY UNION versus CENTENNIALS BULLS washed-out
The all-Bathurst derby at the Sportsground between cellar-dwellers Rugby Union and Centennials Bulls was unable to get underway due to the recent rain that the Bathurst region had received in the lead up to Saturday's game.
Both teams have struggled this season, with the Bulldogs in eight position and last season's surprise packet Bulls propping up the ladder in the 10th.
There's still time with a result, with day-two scheduled next Saturday.
ST PAT'S OLD BOYS versus KINROSS washed-out
St Pat's Old Boys have been in red-hot form this season but they were forced to sit out Saturday after rain forced the closure of Morse Park 1.
The Saints were scheduled to face Kinross, the lowest-ranked Orange team, who currently sit in ninth.
Play will hopefully get underway next Saturday from 1.30pm.
