A 29-year-old man was killed in a horror road crash late near Oberon late Monday evening.

Chifley Police District duty officer Inspector Glenn Cogdell said emergency services were called to the scene on Abercrombie Road at the intersection with Sloggetts Road just after 7.15pm.
He said the driver, a 29-year-old male, was driving towards Oberon when he lost control of his vehicle and hit a gum tree.

As a result of the crash, the car caught on fire.
Inspector Cogdell said witnesses came across the scene but weren't able to get to the driver because of the heat from the flames. The car was engulfed by the blaze.
He said Oberon SES and other emergency services assisted police at the scene. A crime scene was established.
Police investigations are continuing and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
