Red Marauder went almost nine months without a win but now the Paul Theobald gelding can't stop winning.
Another gritty performance from the six-year-old made it three wins from his last four starts, after taking out the 1100 metres Raine and Horne Benchmark 50 Handicap on Saturday at Cowra.
It's continued a long running successful association between Bathurst trainer Paul Theobald and Dubbo jockey Ken Dunbar.
The chestnut gelding was under siege in the straight but fought back to win recent races at Bathurst and it was a similar story at Cowra.
Holding a narrow lead turning for home Red Marauder broke clear from Tilly's All Class before Sizzleonthebridge issued a serious challenge halfway down the straight.
Under strong riding from Ken Dunbar, Red Marauder ($3) held on to win by a long head from Sizzleonthebridge (Hannah Williams, $2.80) with Tycoon Tily (Henny Ede, $4) almost two lengths away in third.
The success follows up wins at Tyers Park on October 16 and November 14.
Prior to his recent run of form, Red Marauder hadn't won in nine starts, with that last win coming at Bedgerabong, west of Forbes, back in February.
The six-year-old has now won seven races throughout his career, as well as picking up another eight placings for a total of 12 from 40 starts.
He's also amassed a handy $57,945 throughout his career.
Theobald first debut Red Marauder at Rosehill back in September, 2017, with Dunbar having the ride in almost all of his starts.
