I WISH to express my disbelief that the Anglican Diocese of Bathurst intends to sell Carcoar Anglican Church in the new year. This wonderful historic building is an integral part of a village which is one of the finest heritage sites in Australia classified by the National Trust. The legality of selling this church as a private residence is dubious to say the least. IN OTHER NEWS: The diocese says it needs the funds to pay debts but, to anyone with an ounce of feeling for the parishioners or our precious heritage, it is clearly a morally bankrupt decision. As I recall, Jesus Christ once said: My house is a house of prayer but you have made it a den of thieves!
