The match of the day was the final between the teams of Alex Birkens, Buddy Simpson and Ian Schofield versus John Finlay, Bob Lindsay and Paul Reece. The weather was quite warm, with a blustery breeze.
Alex and his crew had a strong start, winning seven of the first nine ends, gaining ten shots to two.
The ends went either way until the 17th end when the score was 13-all. From there, Team Finlay kept up the pressure winning all but the last end and finishing the game with the score at 18-14.
Congratulations to the winners and to both teams making it to the final.
Wednesday social bowls
Game one: Denis Oxley and Arthur Williams versus Trevor Kellock and Jim Grives. The game swung either way without a clear leader- 7-all at the seventh end, 10-12 to Trevor and Jim at the 12th.
Denis and Arthur scored a 'four' in the 13th end which turned out to be the one that got them into the lead which they held to the end. The final score: 21-17.
Game two: Bob Lindsay and Bob Foster met Norm Hayes and John Martin. The Two-Bob's-worth led early, a 'five helped them to a 9-2 lead at the seventh end.
This stretched out to 17-7 before Norm and John grabbed three ends to bring the score up to 17-11.
The Two-Bobs then closed out the game by taking the remaining four ends and five shots with the score 22-11.
Game three: John Finlay and Paul Rodenhuis versus Geoff Thorne and Ian Shaw. John and Paul combined well for the first nine ends, leading 14-3.
After that, Geoff and Ian took control, winning the next five ends, including a 'five' to snatch the lead 18-16. After a single each, a 'two' in the last end gave them the win, 20-19.
Game four: Ray Noonan and Phil Murray vs Ian Cunningham and Barry McPherson.
Not much to say about this game, except Ian and Barry would prefer to forget it. Winning 15 of 20 ends, Shorty and Phil ran away with the win, 32-7.

Saturday bowls
Game one: A game of Triples saw Mick and Susie Simmons with John McDonagh defeat Luke Dobbie, Trevor Kellock and Arthur Williams.
Mick's team took an 8-0 lead early but were equalled in the seventh end. Luke's team drew ahead to 13-10 before Mick's team recaptured the lead in the 14th end, 14-13.
They maintained the lead despite Luke's drives to win 21-15.
Game two: Ray Noonan and Anthony Morrissey met Denis Oxley and Bruce Rich.
A 'five' in the third end gave Denis and Bruce a lead which they held to the end. Even though Shorty and Anthony won 11 ends, they didn't get enough shots, going down 16-22.
Game three: Bryan Bromfield and Phil Murray versus Garry Hotham and Arch Ledger. Garry and Arch led 9-7 in the 11th end but a run of five ends for Bryan and Phil put them 16-9 in front.
Garry and Arch won three of the last five ends, but not enough shots to close the gap. Bryan and Phil the winners on 19-14.
Game four: Norm Hayes and Chris Stafford versus Jim Grives and Paul Rodenhuis. Norm and Ian cleaned up 12 of the first 13 ends, leading 17-2.
A 'five' for Jim and Paul in the 15th helped, as did three of the last five ends to get into double figures. Norm and Ian too good, winners on 22-13.
Game five: John Archer and Nev Townsend versus Hans Hummelshoj and Kevin Miller.
By the 10th end, Hans and Kevin had an 11-4 lead. John and Nev took control, winning all but the last end, adding 10 shots.
Hans and Kevin took a 'two' in the last, going down 13-16.
Bathurst Real Estate Juniors
Flynn Sargent and Nolan Stafford continue to improve. Flynn paired with Mick Sewell while Nolan played with Dad Chris.
Although Nolan and Chris put in some good shots, Flynn and Mick kept them from scoring.
MAJELLAN

This week saw the Majellan running flat out with great attendances to the Social games and the Majellan and Wallerawang Challenge. This is how the week rolled along:
Tuesday social games
Rink 11: Paul Jenkins, Ron Hogan and Gordon Holland were out in front by the 4th end 5-1 against C. Woodyatt, Mick Burke and Peter Zylstra.
Team Zylstra were not going to back down and came back to level the match on the 10th and 16th ends. With 11 points remaining for the rest of the match Team Zylstra took 10 of them to come out winners 26-19.
Rink 12: Peter Phegan, Dick Graham and Phil Burgess opened the match against R. McPherson, P.Ryan and Ron McGarry.
Team McGarry took three ends to open their scoring and kept up with the opposition throughout the match and then took control from the 15th end.
Team McGarry took the win comfortably 24-15.
Rink 13: G. Cameron, John Bossom and Terry Burke levelled the match on the 11th end 10 all against Jim Clark, K. Pender and N. Kable.
Team Kable then took the lead only to be level again on the 18th end 17 all. With Team Kable gaining five more points in the last four ends the match went their way 22-17.
Rink 14: T. Chifley, J. Adams and Gordon Death dominated the opening of the match against Terry Clark, Alan Clark and Des Sanders.
Team Death were up by 11 points (19-8) and continued this flow of points to the end of the match to take a very comfortable win 31-13.
Saturday bowls
Rink 9: Mixed Four's Championship semi-final
Anne Pickstone, Betsy Thornberry, Peter Zylstra and Tim Pickstone failed to score a point in the first five ends and were sitting eight points down against Ted Parker, Merl Stevens, Mel Parker and Craig Bush.
Team Pickstone trailed Team Bush for the first 16 ends only to draw level on the 17th 14-all, and again on the 20th 16-all.
Team Pickstone came from behind for the majority of the match to snatch victory 18-16.
Rink 10: Mixed Four's Championship semi-final
Leonie McGarry, Marlene Naylor, Ron McGarry and Tiger Smith struggled to gain traction throughout the match against Pauline Clark, Sue Murray, Alan Clark and Noel Witney.
Again Pauline Clark lead the way for Team Witney who held the lead after the third end and never looked to be in trouble, taking an easy win 28-11.
Rink 11: social game
Hugh Brennan and Glen Urza opened the points for the match against Ray Minogue and Dave Josh.
With some impressive bowls from both teams, it was Team Josh who dominated early. With the scores level 11-all on the 12th end team Josh picked up some handy points to take the lead and the match 24-19.
Rink 12: social game
Trevor Sharpham and Phil Burgess struggled from the onset and there were many calls of 'being beatin' by fifty' from the field.
Max Elms and Lotza Kotza dominated the match and look comfortable all the way to the end with a massive 38-14 victory.
Rink 13: social game
Jeff Adams and Ron Hogan flew out of the gates to be 10-5 by the 10th end against Des Sanders and John Crocker.
Team Crocker fought back to be one in front by the 22nd end 20-19 and looked to be in the box seat. But it wasn't meant to be, and Team Hogan sailed home to victory with a final result of 25-22.
Sunday bowls
The Majellan and Wallerawang Challenge
In conditions that resembled a cyclone, it was also going to be tough for everyone. With the wind not relenting in the first round, the easing of it in the second made for better and more comfortable conditions to play in.
A huge thank you to the ladies that supplied an early Christmas lunch to the 38 players that was amazing.
Round one
Rink nine: L. Draper, H. Brennan, K. Hartwig and N. Witney were defeated by A. Anderson, P. Zylstra, T. Feltham and G. Anderson 17-15.
Rink 10: T. Sharpham, T. Urza and C. Bush defeated P. Williams, D. Evans and J. Nunan 17-12.
Rink 11: B. Thornberry, D. Josh and G. Urza defeated G. Feltham, G. Haley and P. Piggott 15-7.
Rink 12: K. Connors, M. McDonald and P. Naylor defeated D. Sanders, N. Whittaker and I McMillan 24-8.
Rink 13: P. Drew, A. Clark and T. Smith defeated R. Francis, K. Alexander and C. Pugsley 15-14.
Rink 14: R. McGarry, P. Burgess and J. Hobson defeated P. McMillan, D. Francis and J. Howden 20-12.
Round two
Rink nine: D. Sanders, P. Drew, R. McGarry and J. Hobson defeated T. Sharpham, P. McMillan, J. Whittaker and I. McMillan 15-5.
Rink 10: K. Connors, M. McDonald and P. Naylor were defeated by G. Feltham, P. Piggott and C. Pugsley 14-7.
Rink 11: L. Draper, T. Urza and C. Bush defeated A. Anderson, T. Feltham and G. Anderson 22-8.
Rink 12: B. Thornberry, K. Hartwig and N. Witney defeated R. Francis, K. Alexander and G. Haley 23-4.
Rink 13: G. Urza, D. Josh and H. Brennan defeated P. Williams, D. Evans and J. Nunan 15-8
Rink 14: P. Zylstra, A. Clark and T. Smith were defeated by P. Burgess, D. Francis and J. Howden. 15-12.
The Majellan Bowling Club win the shield for 2020 winning nine games to three.
Next year the challenge is set for Wallerawang to host. This wraps up another week at the Majellan, so be kind to each other, see you on the green and Stay Frosty.
BOWLS AUSTRALIA
BOWLS Australia (BA) has continued its proactive response to the challenges faced by the COVID-19 pandemic, with the board agreeing to provide significant membership fee relief in the 2020/21 financial year.
New BA President Bob Boorman said the fee relief is an important step in ensuring the prosperity of bowls clubs across the country. "We hope that this pandemic is a once in a lifetime occurrence and BA and the STAs are very conscious of our collective role in supporting all levels of our sport with financial relief," he said.
