After a massive day one when the Bulldogs posted a score of 367, the previously undefeated Cavaliers struggled to get going on day two, with Thackray's 6-61 off 23.5 overs restricting the Orange team to just 182 in the chase at Wade Park.
Thackray's six-for in the crucial matchup was his second in as many seasons and it continues his solid run of form with the ball, having now taken 11 wickets this season, with all of them coming in his past three matches.

"In the past couple of games I've taken a few, so it was nice to role through a few on the weekend," he said.
"I put them in the right spot and got some reward, which was good."
Thackray's last six-for came against Centennials Bulls during the 2019-20 BOIDC season, when he had figures of 6-57 off 29 overs in his sides 36-run win.
The leading Rugby Union wicket-taker for the season believes Cavaliers came into day two with the wrong attitude, believing they wanted to bat out the day and play for a dray.
"I think they came out with the wrong attitude. It never felt like they went out to win the game," he said.
"We sort of got on top of them and after we took a few wickets, it felt like they weren't going to be able to bat for 80 overs but it never felt they like they were going to get the runs.
"We just felt like we could keep the pressure on. We just wanted to take wickets and we did, which was great."
Thackray said it was great to defeat the ladder leaders.
"We put on a complete performance for this game," he said.
"It was a huge total with the bat and we fielded well and bowled well. I think it showed what we were capable of putting together a complete performance, which was great to do it against Cavs.
"It gives us this belief that we can do it again but we've got to be consistent.
"I'd like to think the other teams are thinking we won't be easy beats, that they won't roll over us. I
"I'd like to think we'd turn up and know they're in for a game, but it's up to us to be consistent and put it all together on the park every match and not for just the one game against Cavs."
