The city had reached 30 degrees at 3pm - the second of two days in a row that had reached 30 - before wet weather swept in from the west.
It took Bathurst's temperature to 25 degrees at 4pm and then to just under 17 degrees at 5pm, which had risen a smidgen to almost 18 degrees by 6pm.
With mild weather forecast for the rest of the week, Bathurst's hottest day of this December is set to remain the first day of the month, when the city reached 36.8 degrees.
