BEFORE apprentice jockey Madison Waters could celebrate her win on Dean Mirfin's Saint Ay she had to get the gelding to come to a stop.

And that was no easy task, as Saint Ay ($2.45 favourite) looked like he could have done it all again for the Bathurst trainer after winning Sunday's McSigns Orange Benchmark 58 Handicap (2,100 metres) in Orange.
Waters brought the five-year-old to the head of the field when he came across from barrier seven, looking to win in the exact same fashion he did at Bathurst's Christmas meeting just a week earlier.
Saint Ay had The Fringe ($3.50, Mathew Cahill) right on his tail as the field swung for home and Yak ($11, Jean Van Overmeire) was winding up with a promising sprint to the outside.
However, Saint Ay had an excellent sprint of his own to offer and blasted clear to win by two lengths over the pair of chases and make it back-to-back wins for the first time in his career.
"Madison rates him very well in front so she conserved a bit of energy on him. He's got a lovely kick and he's in probably the best form of his life at the moment," Mirfin said.
"I think he can go further. I'd have no worries in saying that he could run over 2,400m. Madison actually had trouble pulling him up after the race because he wanted to keep going.
"There's a race coming up a Newcastle in a couple of weeks' time so we might have a look at that. He's pulled up beautifully. I'll give him a couple of weeks now between runs to make sure he's all good."
