While Griffith has achieved plenty as a player - she's captained the NSW Breakers and NSW Country, played in the Women's Big Bash League for the Sydney Thunder and Sydney Sixers plus been an overseas marquee for the Otago Sparks - she's no stranger to coaching.
In 2019 she attended Cricket Australia's High-Performance Coaching program and she's worked with the Western Zone Emerging Breakers. The new Cricket NSW apprenticeship is another step towards her becoming an elite coach.
With the support of Cricket Australia, the program aims to ensure the coaching development of women keeps pace with the rapidly expanding female game, which has exploded in recent times following the introduction of the Women's Big Bash League.
Griffith is one of the three women selected for the first program, which comes off the back of Cricket NSW becoming the first state to create Head of Female Cricket and Head of Coaching Development positions.
Head of Female Cricket, Leah Poulton, a former Breakers and Australian player, is excited by the new program.
"There have never been more opportunities for women and girls to play cricket," Poulton said.
"More than 30 percent of players at all levels and ages participating in cricket are now female.
"It's important we create opportunities for women to contribute to our sport in a range of roles.
"The development of more female coaches, umpires and administrators is an important next step and can only enrich our great game."
Poulton said she was thrilled to have Griffith as part of the coaching team and said her "energy and knowledge will be a great asset to our programs."
The internship will run for 10 months and will consist of presentations, webinars and networking with other high performance sports and their elite coaches.
Griffith will also have field-based experience with both the NSW Blues and NSW Breakers.
