The Calm Kids Mindfulness Course, run by Danielle Hayes, educates children on how to strengthen their emotional intelligence, improve their focus and concentration and gain a more in-depth understanding of how stress and anxiety affects the body and mind.
Ms Hayes will run the five-session course out of the Bathurst Business Centre next week from Monday to Friday, catering for seven to nine year olds [9am-10am], 10 to 12 year olds [11am-12.30pm] and 13 to 16 year olds [3pm-4.30pm].
"Children are getting more and more pressure on them through the schooling system and society in general, but we often forget that, sometimes, kids need to be kids," Ms Hayes said.
Ms Hayes said the sessions will involve mindfulness activities related to appreciating food, expressing kindness and gratitude, breathing exercises and strategies to stay calm.
"We've had a lot interest so far, and I'm hoping to turn these sessions into a regular school holiday event," she said.
"Anxiety can be a debilitating disorder without effective management strategies, which is why it's essential to educate children early to ensure they're well-equipped to manage their mind."
The five sessions cost $100 for seven to nine year olds and $150 for the other age groups. For more information email calmkidsnow@gmail.com or call 63382608.
