The Group 10 board met on Thursday night to determine the findings of the investigation.

Group 10 chairman Linore Zamparini said the decision to fine both clubs was fairly straight forward, and that the clubs were told that would likely be the outcome when the investigation began at the end of last season.

"Both clubs were to answer and that's why they were both fined," he said.

We spoke to them last year after the incident and told them when we finished our investigation there would more than likely be charges coming out of it.

"At the end of the day, it was an ugly incident."

While members of both clubs participated in the brawl, a spectator was deemed responsible for igniting the situation and he's been sanctioned.

"He's been charged under the code of conduct," he said.

"Because he was a spectator that day, he can't be charged as a player but if he becomes registered again that will be on the record.

"There's still a couple of others who have to front the judiciary."

Zamparini said Mid West clubs would be addressed prior to the start of the 2021 season in a bid to stamp out further unsavoury incidents.

An entire round of the Mid West competition was cancelled in July 2017 due to a brawl and referee abuse in the round prior.

"What we've dealt with in the past is unacceptable," he said. "You should be able to go onto a football field and not feel like you're going to get attacked.

"We are going to talk to them and address it further and that will be in consultation with NSWRL."
