Phillips, 12, and her squad - one of three country sides going up against three metro teams - fared strongly against the best players from across the state for their age.
The rising junior consistently finished in the double digits on the scoreboard and looked quite comfortable playing on the post in an unfamiliar role with the forwards.
"We won three out of five. I've played against some of the girls that were in my team but probably not with them before," Phillips said.
"I learned a lot from it all. I ended up being one of the top three scorers in the team and was usually getting between 10 to 15 points a game.
"I usually got my points through driving to the rim and on rebounds. Since I was one of the taller people in the team I was playing at a post position - either the four or the five."
The Bathurst player has no doubt put her claim forward for higher representative selection after her efforts.
Phillips' father, Chris, couldn't be much more prouder of the way his daughter has progressed.
"She's worked on a lot of individual stuff but has done a lot of work with Nancy Haslop locally. She's trying to do things like get her shooting form right, and she's been putting in a lot of effort there," he said.
"I'm so proud that she's been able to reach this stage, from a development point of view, and she was playing in a position at this tournament where she does well at, but doesn't want to be at forever.
"She was getting a lot of rebounds in her games as well. Her coach gave her a feedback sheet for her to go through. She's got plenty to work on, which she's excited about."
He and his daughter currently have their fingers crossed for a country team position.
"Those are the best players for her age in the state, so I'd say she's be half a chance of Country selection. She was right up there with the way that she played," he said.
"She's still doing lots of other sports as well, like AFL, but this is the one that she's been focusing on at the moment. Zara's had a lot of support from the Goldminers as well."
It's been a great run of achievements of late for Phillips, who also impressed at a development league event in Sydney last month.
Next up on the agenda for Phillips, along with the rest of the Bathurst Goldminers club, will be next month's Western Junior League opening round across various venues in the south of the state.
