Andrew Fletcher, administrator of the Bathurst Showground Land Manager, said both the pavilion and user areas have had existing lights replaced with energy efficient lighting.
"We've just replaced 117 lights in the pavilions and other user areas with bright, energy efficient LED lights.
"Our lighting ranged from the old to very old with a few LEDS, but now it is all state of the art technology."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Mr Fletcher said it was imperative the showground had good lighting, with the grounds hosting a number of community events, such as the Lifeline Book Fair and annual show, all of which need adequate lighting.
"Our users need good strong lights, particularly inside the pavilions, it just makes it easier to see and get around safely.
He said good lighting can also freshen up a location.
"Good lighting also make a place seem younger and our pavilions certainly aren't that," he said.
He said the new lighting was also far more efficient than the existing lighting.
"Most of the pavilion lights are motion sensitive so if no one is moving they will dim and come up again when it detects activity."
Mr Fletcher said the new lighting will also making the showground more user friendly for those using it.
"We are always looking for ways to make the showground more user friendly, safer and cheaper to operate, and our users will see a vast improvement now the lights have been installed.
"The LEDs will also give us longer lifetime and reduced maintenance costs.
"There will be a lot less time climbing the roof to change a light bulb," he said.
"The LEDs last up to 20 times longer then traditional lights which dramatically reduces our on-going replacement and maintenance costs.
"It's also better for the environment. In addition to reducing our carbon footprint, these LEDs are more environmentally friendly."
